On July 22nd, 2019, a one-day exhibition was organized (New Works|Same Friends) in which a project tiled opencase-access was displayed at a gallery located off of Crenshaw Blvd. Concieved of as an effort to archive a group of Los Angeles based artists, opencase-access is a ongoing project to document the varied practices of Los Angeles based artists through the documentation of their possessions, art or not. On July 22nd from 6-9 p.m., 18 artists occupied the shelves of a found bookcase, which held the objects long enough to be viewed and documented.

opencase-access includes a curated collection of belongings from close friends of 'the' artist. The project is both a tribute to the artist’s father (who collected notes and photographs from his family & friends and took them everywhere he went inside of a suitcase) and an attempt to celebrate the memory of those closest to the artist via their offerings to a collective and temporary altar. The once transient collection of memories can be permanently viewed
